This Saturday, September 5th, the online exhibit and auction for “The Quiet Children” opens. This is a truly unique exhibit, crafted and curated by artist Heather Renne. Using antique dolls as the motif for the art, she will debut 18 pieces for this show. You can see examples in the images with this post, or you can visit her website for some prior examples.
In addition, every piece of artwork is accompanied by its own unique story or poem, crafted by writers from around the world. My short story The Limits of Your Sight was one of the pieces selected to be paired with a piece of art in this exhibit. You can read a little bit about that here: July 2026 Writing Update – The Heat is On!.
I stumbled upon this project quite by accident, but as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Heather brings a daring, sometimes surreal quality to her art, and the chance to write for such a well-conceived and extraordinary exhibit was an opportunity I did not want to miss.
Every piece is for sale through an online auction. The winning bidder will receive the artwork, the doll that was used, and the story or poem that goes with it. That’s a rare and incredible chance to get a one-of-a-kind piece to add to any collection. Save her page on the site now so you are ready when the sale goes live.
Please take the time to check it out. The items are not visible on the auction page yet. They will be there on September 5th, and the auction runs until mid-October. I will post updates and reminders throughout. Please check it out! Thank you. JL
