I have been waiting a long time to post this. I wrote this post in January ’26!

I am happy to announce that my short story Just One More Thing will be included in We Suck at Comics Volume 3: Errant Adventures!

And bonus – the Kickstarter page is already in preview mode! Check it out now and follow along!

This is a post I did not think I would get to write. My entry into this volume is a story I am very proud of, but also one that broke the rules the guys at Wayward Raven Media posted. In my defense, they posted the word limit after I completed my story (thought I should have known that 8,000 words was far too many). I explored some possible solutions to my dilemma until I settled on one. I got some professional help.

In order to get my story through the acceptance process, I turned to an artist. My friend Amy Capobianco is an art teacher in my program and an artist herself. I asked if she would be interested in doing some artwork for a story I wrote and gave her a copy of Just One More Thing to read. She latched onto many of the same spots I did, and a week later I saw some of the first artwork she did. All I can say (for the moment) is that I was impressed with her vision of the story. She brought to life some of the zany characters and moments I envisioned. And with her on board, I reimaged the story as an artistic piece. I formatted it like a journal with pictures taped to the pages, I experimented with layouts, and settled on a look that captures the heart of the story and the artwork perfectly.

There is more to that story. It will not be told here, but it will be told. You will have to find it for yourself when the time comes.

Once again, I get to thank Mark, Alex, Steve and Josh for allowing me and Amy to be a part of their anthology. I cannot say it enough – the books they produce are top-notch and impressive, and I always look forward to seeing them at the various cons I attend. If you find yourself at a comic con in the northeast, check the exhibitor list for Wayward Raven Media. If they are there, stop by and say hello. Buy a book or five, tell them I said hi, and have fun meeting some genuine people.

Volume 1 was wonderful, Volume 2 was even better. I cannot wait to see volume 3! Get ready to go on a series of errant adventures!
